The Winesaver: Creative Direction, Digital Design & E-commerce

Building the digital presence of a growing wine & preservation business.

An ongoing project covering web design, digital brand development, e-commerce, multilingual communication, content creation and digital marketing.

01 | The business

A growing business with an international reach.

The Winesaver is a small, international business operating across the wine industry, combining product distribution, wine accessories and e-commerce.

As the leading European importer and distributor of Winesave, the company works with B2B partners and retailers across different markets, while also selling directly to consumers through its own online shop and bol.com in the Benelux region. Alongside this, the business represents Spanish wineries, helping bring their wines to new markets and supporting their distribution across Europe.

The product portfolio also includes wine and champagne stoppers, with the business continuing to develop its range, partnerships and retail presence.

I joined the project at an early stage, when much of the digital presence was yet to be established. This gave me the opportunity to take an active role in building the company's online identity and developing the different digital channels needed to support its growth.

02 | My role

Building and managing the digital presence.

From the beginning, I took ownership of the company's digital development, covering a wide range of responsibilities across design, e-commerce and marketing.

I developed the visual identity for The Winesaver and designed and built its website and online shop, bringing together the company's different activities in one place. I also create and adapt marketing and distribution materials, manage social media content and oversee the website's ongoing development.

Working across several European markets, I have also been responsible for translating the website into multiple languages and maintaining its content through regular updates, SEO improvements and seasonal changes.

As part of a small business, my role is very hands-on and varied. I'm involved in both the creative and practical sides of the company's digital operations, helping ensure that everything from the website to its marketing communication works together.

03 | Digital identity & website

Creating a home for the business online.

One of my first priorities was establishing a visual identity and creating a website that could bring the different sides of The Winesaver together.

The website needed to do more than sell products. It also had to introduce the company, tell its story, present its distribution activities and explain the products it works with. I designed and built the website with this in mind, creating a structure that brings together company information, Winesave product details as well as the online shop.

I also developed the visual direction and supporting assets, aiming for a consistent look and feel throughout the different pages while making sure the information remained clear and easy to navigate.

04 | E-commerce & product presentation

Making the products easy to discover.

Alongside the main website, I developed the company's online shop, working on the product presentation, page layouts, descriptions and visual assets.

The shop brings together Winesave, wine stoppers and champagne stoppers, giving customers a straightforward way to explore the products and understand what makes each one useful. I focused on presenting the products clearly, communicating their features and benefits while keeping the shopping experience consistent with the wider website.

I also created and adapted product listings for bol.com, tailoring the content and visuals to the marketplace while maintaining a recognisable brand presentation.

05 | Marketing & communication

Keeping the brand active and visible.

An important part of my role is creating the content and marketing materials that keep The Winesaver connected with its customers and business partners.

I work across different communication channels, creating promotional and engaging content for Instagram, alongside more formal business communication for platforms such as Facebook and LinkedIn. I also develop advertising creatives for Google and Meta campaigns, adapting the visuals and messaging to suit different formats and audiences.

From product-focused content to seasonal promotions and general brand communication, I aim to keep everything visually consistent while giving each platform a purpose of its own.

06 | Multilingual & international presence

Making the brand feel at home in every market.

Working across different European markets means making sure that The Winesaver communicates clearly and naturally with each audience. Speaking several languages fluently, I take an active role in adapting the company's content and online presence to the markets we operate in.

Rather than relying on direct translations, I pay attention to how people actually communicate in each language, making sure that the tone, wording and information feel appropriate for the intended audience. For example, when developing product listings for bol.com, I made sure the content was presented in Dutch, reflecting the main language of the Netherlands. I also translated the website myself into English, Spanish and most of the Portuguese content.

As the business continues to expand, I make sure that our website, product information and communication evolve alongside it. I believe it’s important making sure the brand feels relevant, accessible and consistent wherever it reaches its customers.

07 | Print & promotional design

Brochures, postcards and other materials for the business.

An important part of developing The Winesaver's presence has also been creating materials for use beyond its digital channels.

I've designed a range of printed promotional materials, including a double-sided, tri-fold brochure used to introduce the business and its products at a wine fair in Amsterdam. I also created double-sided promotional postcards featuring a functional QR code linking directly to the company's website, alongside branded stickers and other supporting materials.

These pieces were designed to communicate the business clearly, present its products and create a consistent visual identity across both physical and digital touch points.

07 | Ongoing management & growth

My involvement with The Winesaver doesn't stop once a website or campaign is published. I manage the ongoing digital activity, from updating website content and making seasonal changes to monitoring engagement and working on SEO improvements.

As the business continues to grow, its digital presence needs to grow with it. New products, partnerships, markets and opportunities all bring new content and updates, so I'm constantly working across the different channels to keep everything current and connected.

During the company's first year, we've expanded our reach and helped establish the products in physical retail locations across the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Italy. It's been rewarding to be involved in that growth and to see the digital work become part of a much bigger picture.
